Helping Area Homeless Families
One of our favorite partner ministries is the St. Andrew’s Family Shelter in Hugo (located close to 61 and County Rd 14). It is a place where families from our own neighborhoods who are experiencing homelessness stay while receiving case management at the Community Resource Center at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi.
CLC members have several upcoming opportunities to serve at the Family Shelter.
Volunteers must be age 21+ for overnight shifts (8 p.m.-9 a.m.). Those 18 years old and under are welcome to serve with an adult for dinner shifts (5-8 p.m.) and craft time (7-8 p.m. on Tuesdays). Dinner may also be prepared at home and dropped off at the shelter.
Below are links for volunteer sign-up for each of the weeks.
All volunteers (except for meal drop-off) are required to:
Have a current background check (as of 2024).
Email Laura Langreck and she will help you get a background check, free of charge.
If you have any questions, please contact our church’s liaison Anne Gardner. Thank you in advance for being a part of this ecumenical outreach ministry!
